Meredith and Jeff’s destination wedding in Ocean City, Maryland was one I had been looking forward to all season. During their engagement shoot I could barely keep them off of each other. I immediately saw how much in love this couple was and knew their wedding would be a blast. Planning their beach wedding from Tennessee was a chore no doubt. Meredith and Jeff chose Assateauge Island National Seashore as the location of the ceremony and reception since it is one of their favorite places to vacation. The bride and groom started their day sequestered from each other at Meredith’s aunt’s house in Berlin. From there it was just a short drive to the where the ceremony and reception was going to take place. An evening ceremony is always fun, especially on the beach with that golden hour of gorgeous sunlight. Meredith and Jeff opted to meet before the ceremony and get all of the formal photos with family out of the way while we still could see what we were doing. The couple said their “I do’s” facing the Atlantic Ocean and shared the rest of the night with family and friends on the beach with a bonfire, music and lots of laughs. The highlight of the evening had to be the displaying of the wedding cake. When Meredith asked Jeff what kind of cake he wanted, he said if we’re in Maryland it needs to be a “Crab Cake”. Well crab cake it was… The cake by Duane the Cakesmith of Delaware created an amazing replica of a Maryland Blue Crab (after being steamed of course). It’s these small weddings where I actually get time to reflect on how awesome of a responsibility I have to document a wedding, the emotions, the characters and the events as they unfold. Just one more reason why I love being a wedding photojournalist. Best to you both!

KATIE // SUMMER PORTRAITS

Katie and I met at a Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce – Young Professionals Committee social and have been talking for quite some time about setting up a fun summer portrait shoot. Early on into our conversations on where, what and when, Katie mentioned she had a super fly white Ford Mustang California special that she was very interested in getting some awesome pictures with. The shoot was actually a good break of pace in between two other shoots I had planned this day, an engagement shoot and a family portrait on the beach. I always enjoy stepping away from my “normal routine” to shoot a few fun portraits because well… it allows me to have a little fun of course. Other than her college portrait pictures, Katie had never had any “professional” portraits taken and was a little nervous about what to expect. Of course she was a natural and needed very little guidance. I think the photos speak for themselves. Enjoy.

Meredith, Jeff and I met up on the beach and boardwalk in Ocean City, Maryland to shoot their engagement photos. Ocean City is one of my favorite places to shoot engagement photos or wedding photos for that matter, I mean who wouldn’t love shooting at the beach right? Every time I’m at this location I always try and shoot it differently and that’s exactly what happened with this awesome couple. Our original plan was to shoot the day before but mother nature didn’t allow it so we dropped back and punted for the very next morning. While there was no rain in sight, the wind off the ocean was incredible. Nevertheless Meredith and Jeff were troopers and we stomped all over the downtown area and wrapped up at this little gem of a location on the bayside in midtown Ocean City. I am definitely looking forward to my first beach wedding of the season and my first wedding ceremony at Assateague Island National Seashore in Berlin, Maryland. NICOLLE AND SEAN’S ENGAGEMENT ~ BERLIN

I had the pleasure of meeting Nicolle and Sean in historic downtown Berlin for their engagement photo session. We met at the farmers market and strolled down the sidewalks of Berlin doing a little window shopping as we talked about their wedding details. Sean fancied the toy store while Nicolle enjoyed an ice cream cone from Rayne’s Reef. We then hit the highway (literally) and headed to show off some of the fall colors and what else that’s in abundance on the Eastern Shore? You guessed it, corn! We wrapped things up at the Homer Gudelsky Park in West Ocean City where Nicolle proved her agility is still that of a teenager, even on the sand. I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed working with this couple, I’m confident their fall 2010 wedding at St. Peters Episcopal Church in Salisbury, Maryland and wedding reception at the Ocean Pines Beach Club in Ocean City, Maryland will be nothing short of a blast.

NICHOLE + PAUL // WEDDING

Nichole and Paul’s Berlin, Maryland wedding was perhaps one of the most intimate wedding’s we have had the pleasure of documenting. A very small and personal attendance allowed Nichole and Paul to share their experience with close friends and family. The ceremony was at the Lighthouse Church of God and the reception was at The Globe Theater, both in Berlin. We even found a few moments to shoot some photos in and around the Atlantic Hotel in Downtown Berlin. This was definitely one to be remembered. Congrats!
