Crystal and Chris celebrated their wedding at the Chesapeake Beach Resort and Spa in Chesapeake Beach, Maryland, just a few minutes south of Annapolis. Leading up to the wedding there was much anticipation of bad weather possibly putting a damper on the wedding activities, particularly the wedding photos. This couple wouldn’t let gray skies, heavy winds and rain ruin their wedding day and the outdoor wedding went off without a hitch. The Chesapeake Beach Resort and Spa sits overlooking the gorgeous Chesapeake Bay. What a ton of fun this couple, their friends and family were! I wish you both many years of happiness!

You heard it right - I along with a dozen or so of my fellow firefighters at the Delmarva Emerald Society are teaming up to make a difference at 4:00 PM on Friday, March 18, 2011 at Station 7 Restaurant in Pittsville, Maryland to shave our heads in solidarity with children who have cancer and typically lose their hair during treatment, while raising critical funds for childhood cancer research!

In the US, more children die of childhood cancer than any other disease. Please make a donation on my behalf to support childhood cancer research so that all children diagnosed with cancer will have a better chance for a cure.

I would be honored if you came out to watch me under the razor on March 18, 2011 or send in a donation on my behalf.

Taking engagement photographs are one of my favorite ways of getting to know a couple before a wedding, especially when the cool fall temperatures have finally arrived. Traci, Matt and I met at one of my favorite locations on the Eastern Shore, the 262 acre Pemberton Park in Salisbury, Maryland. I had a blast with Traci and Matt and I know their wedding at the Fountains Wedding and Conference Center in Salisbury will be amazing.

DOLLE’S CANDYLAND 100 YEAR ANNIVERSARY // OCEAN CITY MARYLAND EVENT PHOTOGRAPHER

It was an honor to be asked by Dolle’s Candyland to document their 100 year anniversary party held this past weekend in Ocean City, Maryland. Despite the rainy weather, the event was very well attended by scores of current, past, and certainly some future employees. The highlight of the event was most definitely the amazing cake from Charm City Cakes in Baltimore, Maryland on display. Congratulations to Dolle’s on this milestone and best of luck with the next 100 years!

When Michelle called me and said her family was flying in from California and vacationing together in Ocean City, Maryland, I was very excited to work my schedule around their plans. I knew from the moment I met Laura and Chuck they were my kind of people. Laura and Chuck planned a small wedding affair at her family farm in Preston, Maryland. After all the snow we had this winter which literally crippled the Eastern Shore of Maryland, Laura was afraid she wouldn’t be done work as a school teacher in time to celebrate her big day. Fortunately school let out in time and this couple celebrated their wedding with friends and family without a hitch. Early into her planning Laura shared with me that her grandfather had become ill and how much the family was looking forward to him sharing their wedding with him. You can imagine how pleased I was when I showed up to hear he was going to be able to watch the whole thing from the peace of their screened in porch. It takes quite a bit to rattle me on a wedding day, or any day for that matter. I walked away from Laura and Chuck’s wedding knowing I documented one of the most precious moments they will ever be able to enjoy for many years to come. It’s those little things, those things that bring a tear to my eye, that give me the fire and ambition get out and do this job and to honor this great responsibility of a wedding photojournalist to the best of my ability each and every weekend. JOCELYN + MIKE // CRISFIELD MARYLAND WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

I have to admit I had been looking forward to Jocelyn and Mike’s Crisfield, Maryland wedding for the past few months. During their engagement shoot Mike told me his son Josh was going to be the best man… I should probably mention Josh is four. The ceremony was held at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church right in the heart of downtown Crisfield. After the ceremony, Jocelyn and Mike spared a few minutes to take a few photos by the city docks. The reception followed at the Crisfield Elks Lodge where the girls certainly outdid the guys in breaking it down on the dance floor. The best man’s toast was probably one of the best I’ve heard in a while…. Quick, honest and to the point. Best of luck to the new family!

SARAH + LUKE // OCEAN CITY MARYLAND WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

It’s not often you get the opportunity to work for your peers let alone your competition. Needless to say I was excited and nervous about shooting Sarah and Luke’s engagement session in Ocean City, Maryland. You see Sarah and Luke are both firefighters in Bethany Beach, Delaware and I’m a firefighter in Ocean City, Maryland. Our departments work and train together often so I’ve seen this couple getting down and dirty… on the fire ground that is. So the competition…. Sarah is also a photographer here on the Eastern Shore. I think we picked one of the hottest days of the summer to shoot their engagement photographs, it had to be at least 100 degrees. You would think living here at the beach you would get used to the temperature… not so much. We met at Northside Park in Ocean City and actually stumbled upon an Art show taking place in the park. While we fought the heat we certainly grabbed some amazing shots that definitely brought out the personality in this couple. Their wedding at Baywood Greens in Long Neck, Delaware this fall is certain to be one to remember. Cheers to you both!

MEREDITH + JEFF // OCEAN CITY MARYLAND WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

Meredith and Jeff’s destination wedding in Ocean City, Maryland was one I had been looking forward to all season. During their engagement shoot I could barely keep them off of each other. I immediately saw how much in love this couple was and knew their wedding would be a blast. Planning their beach wedding from Tennessee was a chore no doubt. Meredith and Jeff chose Assateauge Island National Seashore as the location of the ceremony and reception since it is one of their favorite places to vacation. The bride and groom started their day sequestered from each other at Meredith’s aunt’s house in Berlin. From there it was just a short drive to the where the ceremony and reception was going to take place. An evening ceremony is always fun, especially on the beach with that golden hour of gorgeous sunlight. Meredith and Jeff opted to meet before the ceremony and get all of the formal photos with family out of the way while we still could see what we were doing. The couple said their “I do’s” facing the Atlantic Ocean and shared the rest of the night with family and friends on the beach with a bonfire, music and lots of laughs. The highlight of the evening had to be the displaying of the wedding cake. When Meredith asked Jeff what kind of cake he wanted, he said if we’re in Maryland it needs to be a “Crab Cake”. Well crab cake it was… The cake by Duane the Cakesmith of Delaware created an amazing replica of a Maryland Blue Crab (after being steamed of course). It’s these small weddings where I actually get time to reflect on how awesome of a responsibility I have to document a wedding, the emotions, the characters and the events as they unfold. Just one more reason why I love being a wedding photojournalist. Best to you both!
